Must-Have Printed Marketing Campaign Materials

You may think that printed marketing campaign materials are a thing of the past. Sure, we are seeing more companies switch to digital advertising and marketing. But, printed marketing materials still have a seat at the table when it comes to effective marketing. Think about how much junk email you get daily versus how much traditional mail you get. Which one are you most likely to open? The printed mail right? That’s why we believe printed marketing material is still alive and well.

Here are five printed marketing materials that are still popular and a good investment for your next marketing campaign:

Brochures

Brochures are a great way to convey your company’s message in a visually appealing form. You can choose high-quality, glossy color photos to make the brochure really pop and customers enjoy being able to have something to hold on to and take with them and show to others.

Infographics

You’ve probably seen a lot of infographics used lately on online blog posts and articles. But, they infographics are a great resource for printed marketing materials as well. Infographics are highly engaging because they provide so much information in a concise, easy-to-follow way. Due to the high amount of information on them, customers may prefer to have them printed versus a digital version so they can write their own notes on the infographic and have it with them as a resource.

Business Cards

Business cards are one of the printed materials where sales have remained strong despite a switch to digital media. There is no better networking tool than a printed business card. You are able to hand the business card to connections personally and put a face to your name and all of your contact information is displayed in one, small, convenient space.

Instructions

Instructions are another form of material that people prefer to have printed rather than digital. When instructions are printed they are a lot easier to use because you can have the instructions right in front of you instead of pulling up a webpage or email, scrolling through the instructions, then your phone or tablet goes to black and you have to redo the process over and over. Printed instructions allow you to place the instructions in front of you and have your hands free for the task.

One-Sheeters

A one-sheeter is similar to a brochure but instead of providing an overview of services, a one-sheeter focuses one on product or service that your company offers.

Printed Marketing Campaign Materials and Digital: Working Side by Side

Printed and digital marketing don’t have to be seen as competitors or that one has to be used without the other. We think, the best marketing practice is to use both digital and print marketing materials. This way you are able to distribute marketing materials to suit everybody’s preferences. As we mentioned before, the digital space is becoming extremely crowded and a lot of people send marketing emails straight to the trash or spam folders. With printed marketing, you can deliver your materials right to a customer’s hands or mailboxes, where they are more likely to read and keep them.

Choose a Color Scheme

The first step in developing your printed marketing campaign materials is to choose a color scheme and decide whether you even want to print in color or if you’d prefer black and white. If you do go with color, make sure you use a high-quality printer for the color to come out looking as good as possible.

RGB & CMYK

If you are printing any of your marketing materials with an advertising agency, they may ask you if you’d like to print in RGB or CMYK.

Red, Green and Blue (RGB)

The primary colors are most commonly used in computer monitors, scanners and digital cameras. These colors can be combined in different degrees to create all of the colors we see. When you combine all three colors, you will create white. If your project will be seen on a screen instead of a printed material, it’s recommended to use this color scheme.

Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK)

These colors are most commonly used for printing. When used in varying amounts, CMYK will create other colors. When combined, CMYK turn black. There is no white included in this color scheme because it’s assumed the paper being used for printing is white. We recommend for printing on paper like a newsletter, business card or brochure, to use CMYK.
